Paint Correction & Restoration

From Dull and Swirled to Deep and Glossy

Paint correction and restoration are designed to improve damaged, weathered, or imperfect finishes safely and intentionally.

At The White Glove Detailer™, we evaluate the paint before recommending a process. Depending on the condition and desired result, treatment may include machine polishing, defect removal, overspray removal, localized correction, precision wet sanding, or other restoration techniques.

Not every defect can or should be removed. Our goal is to achieve the best safe improvement while preserving the integrity of the paint system.

THE RIGHT APPROACH FOR THE PAINT

Newer Vehicle — Under 3 Model Years

Newer paint can still suffer from swirls, water spots, wash damage, light scratches, dealership preparation marks, and environmental contamination. We evaluate the finish and recommend the appropriate level of enhancement or correction to restore clarity and gloss without removing more paint than necessary.

Older Vehicle — 3+ Model Years

As paint ages, years of washing, weather exposure, oxidation, contamination, and previous repairs can become more visible. This service focuses on safely improving the finish based on its current condition, paint history, and remaining correction potential.

Neglected Vehicle

For vehicles with heavy oxidation, severe contamination, extensive wash damage, staining, or long-term exposure, restoration requires more than a standard polish. These projects are evaluated individually to determine what can safely be improved and whether additional restoration or body repair may be required.

Spot Correction

Localized correction for isolated defects such as scratches, transfer marks, water spotting, sanding marks, or other small problem areas. The affected area is evaluated before work begins to determine whether polishing, sanding, touch-up, or another repair method is appropriate.

Precision Wet Sanding

Wet sanding is an advanced correction technique used selectively when polishing alone cannot safely achieve the desired result. It may be appropriate for repaint defects, texture reduction, sanding marks, severe isolated defects, or other specialized correction work. Wet sanding is not performed automatically and requires inspection before approval.

Clear Coat Panel Restoration

Designed for panels showing severe oxidation, heavy defects, poor finishing, or localized clear-coat concerns that may still be safely improved through detailing techniques. Each panel is assessed individually to determine whether restoration is appropriate or whether refinishing by a body shop is the better solution.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

We come to you. The White Glove Detailer™ is fully mobile, so the polishers, lighting, power, and water arrive with us anywhere in Tampa, South Tampa, Clearwater, St. Petersburg, Oldsmar, Wesley Chapel, Lutz, Brandon, Riverview, and Valrico. All we need is a level space with room to open every door, ideally a garage or covered spot so panels stay cool while we work. Most clients hand over the keys and go back to their day. Same setup applies to our mobile auto detailing appointments.

A one step polish on a well kept newer car usually runs 4 to 6 hours. A multi step correction on an older or neglected finish often spans 1 to 3 days, because each panel gets measured, test spotted, then refined and inspected under multiple light sources. Wet sanding, overspray removal, or isolated repair adds time on top of that. We confirm the schedule after seeing the vehicle in person rather than quoting a number over the phone.

Not every one, and any shop promising that is guessing. If your fingernail catches in a scratch, it has usually gone through the clear coat, and chasing it would thin the paint past a safe limit. We read clear coat thickness first, then tell you plainly what disappears, what softens, and what genuinely belongs with a refinisher or body shop. Being honest about that line is how paint survives future polishing.

Florida is unusually hard on a finish. Year round UV, constant humidity, salt air drifting in off the Gulf and the bay through Clearwater and St. Petersburg, love bug season twice a year, sprinkler and well water spotting common around Lutz and Wesley Chapel, and afternoon storms that bake mineral deposits onto hot panels. Add a few tunnel washes and the swirl marks stack up fast. Correction resets the paint. Protection is what keeps it looking that way through a Tampa summer.

It is optional, though it is why most clients correct in the first place. Once the defects are gone, a ceramic coating locks that finish in and makes UV, bug residue, and mineral spotting far easier to wash off before they etch. If you would rather not coat the vehicle, a maintenance plan with scheduled safe washing keeps the correction from undoing itself. We recommend based on where you park, how far you drive, and how close you are to the water.
